چکیده

INTRODUCTION A previously healthy 65-year-old male presented to the emergency department complaining of a burn to his right forearm. Just prior to arrival the patient was working at a tool and die company casting products with molten aluminum where he inadvertently caused his injury. Physical examination revealed a burn to the right forearm of varying degrees of severity. A non-painful charred central area was observed with surrounding erythema and swelling (Figure 1). Patient had full motor strength of his wrist and elbow. He also had normal neuro-vascular status distal to the injury. A radiograph was performed to assess the depth of the injury (Figure 2).

Effect of Ultrasonic Vibration on Infiltration of Nickel Porous Preform with Molten Aluminum Alloys

In order to obtain the high-performance composites with high density, the influence of additional ultrasonic vibration on the infiltration of molten aluminum alloy (ASTM A336.0) into nickel porous preform by low-pressure and pressureless casting was investigated. There was no effect of ultrasonic vibration on infiltration distance under pressureless casting because of presence of surface oxide ...

EFFECT OF HIGH TEMPERATURE OXIDATION ON THE CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ALUMINIZED LOW CARBON STEEL IN MOLTEN ALUMINUM

Hot dip aluminizing was carried out on the low carbon steel rod under optimized conditions. The aluminized samples were further oxidized at 1000̊C in air atmosphere at two different times of 20 and 60 minutes. Microstructure study and phase analysis were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods, respectively. The characterization of the coating showed that, Fe2...

Assembly of metals and nanoparticles into novel nanocomposite superstructures

Molten salts are widely used to extract oxides and particulate phases from molten Al and protect Al from oxidization during molten aluminum alloys processing. It was reported that TiCN showed a reasonable stability in molten aluminum during solidification nanoprocessing of aluminum matrix nanocomposites. To further verify the TiCN stability in molten aluminum in molten salt, EDX and TEM were us...

High Temperature Phase Change Materials for Thermal Energy Storage Applications: Preprint

To store thermal energy, sensible and latent heat storage materials are widely used. Latent heat thermal energy storage (TES) systems using phase change materials (PCM) are useful because of their ability to charge and discharge a large amount of heat from a small mass at constant temperature during a phase transformation. Because high-melting-point PCMs have large energy densities, their use c...

FORMATION AND GROWTH OF TITANIUM ALUMINIDE LAYER AT THE SURFACE OF TITANIUM SHEETS IMMERSED IN MOLTEN ALUMINUM

Abstract: titanium sheets in pure molten aluminum at 750 and X-Ray Diffraction Analysis results, TiAlintermetallic layer thickness increases slowly at primary stages. After that an enhanced growth rate occurs due to layercracking and disruption. Presumably, reaction starts with solving titanium into the molten aluminum causing intitanium super saturation and TiAlintermetallic layer which conseq...
